Supply Chain Update (April 2021)
Lead times on many electronic components we use for our products continue to increase since our previous update in January. Large customer orders placed now can expect to have a lead time of up to one year (yes, that’s April 2022 delivery!!).
If you are using (or planning to use) Opal Kelly products in the production of your product, we strongly recommend that you review the following notes and procedures:
Small Quantity Orders / New Customers
Opal Kelly has always reserved the right to put orders on lead time even if inventory is available in order to preserve off-the-shelf availability for small quantities.
- Applicable order size depends on the product, current inventory, our existing pipeline, customer forecasts, and other factors, but this is typically fewer than 5 units.
- All orders must be placed through our online store.
- All orders are pre-paid and will enter the queue in the order payment is received.
Large Quantity Orders
- Applicable order size depends on the product, current inventory, our existing pipeline, customer forecasts, and other factors, but this can be as few as 3 units.
- All orders must be placed through our online store.
- All orders require a signed NCNR (non-cancellable, non-refundable) statement that will be provided through [email protected].
- All orders are pre-paid in full and will enter the queue in the order payment and NCNR are received.
- All orders are subject to lead time and delivery review and may not be fulfilled for several months.
- Lead times will be provided as soon as possible, but are subject to change. We will do our best to inform you of changes in a timely fashion, but due to market conditions, please expect some delays.
What About Lead Time?
As mentioned above, we will do our best to provide lead time information as quickly and as accurately as possible. We must have your order, NCNR, and payment before we’re able to assess lead time in the context of our supplier lead times, our build schedule, and other customer demand.
If you must report a lead time for planning purposes, plan on a 52-week Lead Time. This is subject to change and cannot be guaranteed.
We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding through this highly volatile time.
