FrontPanel 6.0 Public Beta
Today we’re proud to announce the next phase of FrontPanel is entering public beta. FrontPanel 6.0 builds on our commitment to improving the tools engineers use to build and integrate FPGA-based hardware. While the FrontPanel app has long enabled developers to build virtualized control components and custom device management interfaces, it has been a bare-metal process that favors speed and clarity over visual polish. With FrontPanel 6 we’re introducing the ability to develop FrontPanel-powered Electron apps.

One way to make hardware engineers more effective is to make it easier for them to make software. A much better way it turns out, is to make it possible to hand off the software development to a software developer. The Chromium browser engine adds a ton of flexibility to your FrontPanel app, not only through its built-in functionality, but by opening up the world of web development libraries and frameworks that have defined the modern software landscape.
With this upgrade, it’s faster and simpler to build commercial-grade apps that look great across all platforms and form factors. Sharing stylesheets means easier branding compliance across web and app properties. And added interactivity scales development time smoothly instead of exponentially.

We’re always looking to improve the tools engineers use to build and integrate FPGA-based hardware. If you want to help us with your feedback, get started here (Pins access required.)
